World Food Day

I didn’t know there was a World Food Day.

In my household, the most important question of the day is:

What’s for dinner?

As it turns out, I am preparing a stir fry with the last of the summer garden harvest.

Aubergine.  Peppers.  Onions.   Crookneck squash.  Zucchini.

(and anything else that needs picking)

I don’t want to inundate you, dear reader, with a lot of information here about

World Food Day–I am sure you can look into it if you wish to.

But, it is a re~minder for me about how important our family garden is, and to know the quality and nutrients of the food on my table and in the pantry.

(with Ebola taking up the lion’s share of media space, this may not get much attention)

Groundnuts anyone? (courtesy NPR)

It is probably worth a little thought to consider our food sources

(yay Mother Earth)

and producers, and to say a silent, or out loud “thank you” for the bounty we enjoy.

Maybe Thanksgiving is arriving early this year.
